Defects of traditional wood cues

1. Look:
Shafts are easily stained when made with ordinary materials.

2. Warping:
Shafts rested against walls will warp due to heat and humidity and are often not guaranteed.

3. No standard:
Traditional wood cues do not often achieve an even horizontal weight distribution. This poor center-of-gravity makes placing accurate shots more difficult.

4. Low fatigue resistance:
Traditional cues have a low absorption to vibration. Vibration puts a cue under stress. This makes a cue less resistant to fatigue allowing fractures to develop next to the ferrule, joint, butt or inlays. It then has trouble resisting the high impact strength applied when shooting and loses a lot of its performance and can even break apart.
